Wells Fargo Securities appoints James Kipp Vice Chairman; continuing the success and growth of a highly-recognized practice and team

HOUSTONWells Fargo Securities, the investment banking and capital markets business of Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC), announced today that Scott Warrender has been appointed head of the Energy & Power Investment Banking group, effective immediately. He steps into the role after James Kipp, a 25-year veteran of the bank who joined at the inception of the group, transitioned into the role of vice chairman in Investment Banking & Capital Markets.

“The E&P Investment Banking group has led many recent marquee transactions, including advising industry leaders such as TransCanada, DTE, Apache and Anadarko,” stated Rob Engel, co-head of Wells Fargo Securities. “Leveraging the expertise of our E&P Group as well as our reputation as a leading capital provider to the industry for over 40 years, Scott will continue driving our success while raising our visibility and profile with clients.”

Warrender, who is based in Houston, joined Wells Fargo in 2012 after nearly 14 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has more than 20 years of investment banking experience and has executed a large number of energy mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions for clients including Baker Hughes, ConocoPhillips, National Oilwell Varco and Weatherford. Warrender graduated first in his class from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

In addition, the Acquisitions & Divestures (A&D) team, a part of the E&P investment banking practice that reported solely to Kipp, will now dually report to Hugh Babowal, head of Energy & Power M&A, and Warrender. The A&D group has similarly executed a variety of high-profile recent transactions, including the sale of Conoco Phillips’ San Juan Basin assets and Anadarko’s East Texas Assets.
